Habitat
Made in 2015, this 15-minute short film only screened in 2022 — at an informal monthly online gathering which we called Elsewhere Cinema Club. Together with Filipino film scholar Professor Patrick Campos, I spoke with Cebu-raised, Mexico-based traveller-filmmaker Aiess Alonso on the significance of returning to her hometown and making one of the first films to feature the Cebuano language. In 2023, I programmed Habitat within a larger exhibition Climate of Cinema curated by Professor Kim Soyoung, bringing this previously unreleased Filipino film to the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan in South Korea.
